The Power of Words

Words have special powers. The power to create smiles or frowns. The power to generate laughs or tears. The power to lift up or put down. The power to motivate or de-motivate. The power to teach good or evil. The power to express love or hate. The power to give or take. The power to heal or harm. Choose your words carefully.”
~ A.D. Williams

It is true as Rev. Williams has said above words have a lot of power which have a greater impact on our life. It can generate smiles as you are smiling at the jokes of someone. But being that someone is more important than smiling at someone. As words could create large bonds and relationships it could break too. Silence not as powerful as words but sometime it could also help us too.

Rev. Alvin Dighton Williams, D. D., was born at Smithfield Centre, Pennsylvania, Oct. 13, 1825. Converted at thirteen, he commenced preaching two and a half years later, gaining some notoriety as the "boy preacher." Ordained at Carolina Mills, Rhode Island in May 1848, Williams graduated from Hamilton College, New York, in 1849. He pastored churches at Carolina Mills and Pawtucket, Rhode Island; Lawrence, Massachusetts; Minneapolis and Fair Point, Minnesota; and Cheshire and Middleport, Ohio.

During his ministry, he baptized nearly five hundred converts and assisted in organizing many churches. He served as president of the Northwestern and West Virginia Colleges, was principal ol Nebraska State Normal School, and a member of the Nebraska State Board of Agriculture.

He received the Doctor of Divinity degree in 1871 from Quincy College in Illinois. He was the editor of The Freewill Baptist Qurarterly, and wrote The Rhode Island Freewill Baptist PulpitThe Support of the MinistryMemorials of the Free Communion Baptists, and Four Years of Co-operation in Nebraska and Kansas.

Temper Management - Story

There once was a little boy who had a bad temper. His father gave him a bag of nails and told him that every time he lost his temper, he must hammer a nail into the back of the fence. The first day the boy had driven 37 nails into the fence. Over the next few weeks, as he learned to control his anger, the number of nails hammered daily gradually dwindled down. He discovered it was easier to hold his temper than to drive those nails into the
fence.
Finally the day came when the boy didn't lose his temper at all. He told his father about it and the father suggested that the boy now pull out one nail for each day that he was able to hold his temper. The days passed and the young boy was finally able to tell his father that all the nails were gone. The father took his son by the hand and led him to the fence. He said, "You have done well, my son, but look at the holes in the fence. The
fence will never be the same. When you say things in anger, they leave a scar just like this one. You can put a knife in a man and draw it out. It won't matter how many times you say I'm sorry, the wound is still there."

I hope you have found what is hidden in the story. But it is hard to follow advice but easier to say. even though it is like it I am trying to control it by now.

Stress - How to relieve yourself

A psychologist walked around a room while teaching stress management to an audience. As she raised a glass of water, everyone expected they'd be asked the "half empty or half full" question. Instead, with a smile on her face, she inquired: "How heavy is this glass of water?"

Answers called out ranged from 8 oz. to 20 oz.

She replied, "The absolute weight doesn't matter. It depends on how long I hold it. If I hold it for a minute, it's not a problem. If I hold it for an hour, I'll have an ache in my arm. If I hold it for a day, my arm will feel numb and paralyzed. In each case, the weight of the glass doesn't change, but the longer I hold it, the heavier it becomes."

She continued, "The stresses and worries in life are like that glass of water. Think about them for a while and nothing happens. Think about them a bit longer and they begin to hurt. And if you think about them all day long, you will feel paralyzed – incapable of doing anything."

Remember to put the glass down.

A night without a movie - Preface

I, Vivek and Sreeni planed for a movie named 'da thadiya'. It was the day before christmas and the story of a life began there. This story is what i am going to tell you in a flow of words. I were riding my honda shine and he his Activa. We dashed to the kalabhavan theatre, but there hung the housefull board. Vivek were riding with me. We took the vehicles and increased the speed to get tickets from kairali because it is just 3 mins from kalabhavan. I thought Sreeni was also racing because not to late for the movie and it is almost 9'o clock night. I merely missed a collision with a santro car while I tried to overtake Sreeni. But he directly came back to home. Vivek bought the tickets and we together waited for Sreeni. But he didn't arrive. So I phoned him.

'Where are you dude?'

'I reached home. Where are you fucking now?' Replied Sreeni with an irritating voice.

'Dude we took the tickets here at kairali. Are you coming or not?'

'Sell my ticket and you both enjoy the movie'

'What! are you mad?'

'No dude. I am least interested in riding back for the movie.'

I thought that night was not a good one for me because i missed the movie. But the truth was different. We took ride back to home after a long struggle to sell the tickets and at last we sold it.

'What ass in the fucking world made your interest down while we risked our life's to get the tickets?' i asked Sreeni with my lost temper.

'I asked to sell my ticket and why did you guys didn't enjoy the movie.'

'Because we are not interested in execute the plan without the planner is there. Lets go to shangumukham.' Said Vivek suddenly.

Shangumukham is a beach nearer to the Trivandrum city. It is just 5 kilometers away from our home. We usually hangout there whenever we have a change in mood. It may be stressed or happy or anything we will have a reason to go there. We even worlds scariest topics from creation of something from nothing to string theory there. Our favourite subjects ranges from science and politics to girls! We all are admirers of arts and sports. Our tastes were different but we were bonded with one thing friendship. Sreeni loves classical music and classical dance form and some times i thought he should have born in early 50's. But god has a uniqueness in his creations. Another thing we three are interested in is knowledge. We are interested in anything below and above the sky from Isadora, creator of modern dance, to Steve Jobs and Alexander Turin founders of Apple and modern computers. We love pyramid to Madhura Meenakshi temple. These all come under our discussion while enjoy the night beauty of sky mating the sea.

'Start the vehicle dude. Are you day dreaming?' Sreeni tried to wake up from my thoughts about losing the movie.

'Dude I need more Petrol. Bike is going to stop in midway.' Since am an engineering student i don't have any money because my parents are least interested in giving me pocket money.

'I will pay for it dude. Come on lets have a feast for the birth of Jesus too.' Vivek insisted me to go and kick started my story.

We had our food from a local food shop which we call the shop as 'tattukada'. After food we rode to the petrol outlet at pattor. On the way I asked Vivek and Sreeni- 'Guys what about smashing a story?'.

'Come on dude. It is the spirit let us kick start it.'

The Start switch in my bike made a reason to commencement of a story.....

Are you young or Old?

An 87 Year Old College Student Named Rose
The first day of school our professor introduced himself and challenged us to get to know someone we didn’t already know.
I stood up to look around when a gentle hand touched my shoulder. I turned round to find a wrinkled, little old lady beaming up at me
with a smile that lit up her entire being.
She said, “Hi handsome. My name is Rose. I’m eighty-seven years old. Can I give you a hug?”
I laughed and enthusiastically responded, “Of course you may!” and she gave me a giant squeeze.
“Why are you in college at such a young, innocent age?” I asked.
She jokingly replied, “I’m here to meet a rich husband, get married, and have a couple of kids…”
“No seriously,” I asked. I was curious what may have motivated her to be taking on this challenge at her age.
“I always dreamed of having a college education and now I’m getting one!” she told me.
After class we walked to the student union building and shared a chocolate milkshake. We became instant friends. Every day for the
next three months, we would leave class together and talk nonstop. I was always mesmerized listening to this “time machine”
as she shared her wisdom and experience with me.
Over the course of the year, Rose became a campus icon and she easily made friends wherever she went. She loved to dress up and she reveled in the attention bestowed upon her from the other students. She was living it up.
At the end of the semester we invited Rose to speak at our football banquet. I’ll never forget what she taught us. She was
introduced and stepped up to the podium.
As she began to deliver her prepared speech, she dropped her three by five cards on the floor. Frustrated and a little embarrassed she leaned into the microphone and simply said, “I’m sorry I’m so jittery. I gave up beer for Lent and this whiskey is killing me! I’ll never get my speech back in order so let me just tell
you what I know.”
As we laughed she cleared her throat and began, “We do not stop playing because we are old; we grow old because we stop
playing. There are only four secrets to staying young, being happy, and achieving success. You have to laugh and find humor every day.
You’ve got to have a dream. When you lose your dreams, you die.
We have so many people walking around who are dead and don’t even know it!There is a huge difference between growing
older and growing up.
If you are nineteen years old and lie in bed for one full year and don’t do one productive thing, you will turn twenty years old.
If I am eighty-seven years old and stay in bed for a year and never do anything I will turn eighty-eight.
Anybody can grow older. That doesn’t take any talent or ability. The idea is to grow up by always finding opportunity in change.
Have no regrets.
The elderly usually don’t have regrets for what we did, but rather for things we did not do. The only people who fear death are those
with regrets.”
She concluded her speech by courageously singing “The Rose.”
She challenged each of us to study the lyrics and live them out in our daily lives.
At the year’s end Rose finished the college degree she had begun all those years ago. One week after graduation Rose died
peacefully in her sleep.
Over two thousand college students attended her funeral in tribute to the wonderful woman who taught by example that it’s
never too late to be all you can possibly be .When you finish reading this, please send this peaceful word of advice to your friends and family, they’ll really enjoy it!
These words have been passed along in loving memory of ROSE.
REMEMBER, GROWING OLDER IS MANDATORY. GROWING UP IS
OPTIONAL.

Dam or Life?

While magazines and TV chains report about the lives and love affairs of movie actors and actresses, football players and other celebrities, the Chief of the Kayapo tribe heard the worst news of his entire life:

Mrs. Dilma, the president of Brazil, has given her approval for the construction of an enormous hydroelectric central (the world's third largest one).
This means the death sentence for ALL the tribes living at the shores of the river because the barrage will flood more or less 400 000 hectares of the forest.
More than 40 000 natives will have to find other living surroundings where they will be able to survive.
The destruction of the natural habitat, the deforestation and the disappearance of several species of plants and animals will be a fait accompli.
We know that a simple image is the equivalent of a thousand words, it shows the price to be paid for the "quality of life" of our so-called "modern comforts."
There is no space in the world anymore for those who live differently. Everything has to be smoothed away, that everyone, in the name of globalization must lose his and her identity and way of living.
If this enrages you, I urge and implore you to forward this message to all your friends, relatives and acquaintances.
